The college town of Conway, Arkansas is home to a Panda Wok, a China Town and many other Asian style restaurants. This summer, they may be getting one more.
Tweets from Conway residents wishing the city had a Panda Express and asking the chain to bring one to the city date back to 2013. Following last year’s rumors, construction has now started on a building at 811 Oak Street, the property that used to be a Denny’s, across from Golden Corral for a Panda Express and a Sleep Number store.
While there’s not a clear opening date yet, there are already postings on well-known internet job boards seeking applicants for the Conway location.
Tom Walker, the site superintendent for the general contractor who is building the shell of the building, said they are currently finishing the Sleep Number store, which will be on the west end, and then Panda Express will go on to complete the side of the project. He said his side should be completed somewhere between the middle and the end of May if all goes well.
Panda Express is a build-your-own style Asian food restaurant giving customers the option of a bowl, a plate or a bigger bowl and giving them the choice of a variety of entrees and sides to create their own meal.
