The governor’s office announced Friday that Arkansas unemployment fell to 3.4 percent in May, following a downward trend for the last few months.
The state’s unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in April, Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s office said in a news release.
“Arkansas’ unemployment rate has fallen, once again, to an all-time low at 3.4 percent,” Hutchinson said in the release. “The state’s labor force participation continues to increase with more jobs being added to the private sector, and the total number of Arkansans employed since January 2015 has risen to 74,500, up from 70,200 from last month.”
By comparison, Hutchinson’s office said the national rate of unemployment for May was 4.5 percent.
