Northwest Arkansas based chocolate company wins cash prize in an online competition to expand their business
Simkins Brothers’ Sweets, a Northwest Arkansas-based chocolate company, was recently awarded a $10,051 prize in the new, online pitch competition IdeaFame. IdeaFame was launched by the Startup Junkie team as a method to expand their outreach and to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation around the world.
The competition accepts 60-second videos from contestants pitching their idea for a new company, product, service, solution or innovation. Each contestant is tasked with building their pitch and gathering support via votes. The contestant with the most votes wins an ever-expanding prize. During this competition, Simkins Brothers’ Sweets, emerged victorious with 1,398 votes for their Innovative Sweets Company, claiming the $10,051 prize.
Simkins Brothers’ Sweets is co-owned by the Simkins Brothers: Austin & Quinn. The Fayetteville-based chocolate company was founded in 2017 by the two brothers as a way to explore their entrepreneurial interests.
Through hard work and creative marketing, they have been able to grow the business and can be found on retailers’ shelves throughout their home region. This is the second big check for the Simkins Brothers, as they recently took second place in the inaugural Collegiate Venture Competition hosted by the University of Central Arkansas’ Conductor team, and brought home a $5,000 cash prize.
“This is incredible,” said Austin Simkins. “We’ve been working on limited funds, and with this win, we’ll be able to propel our company forward by purchasing new equipment and turning this $15,000 into $30,000 soon.”

Winning has been a theme for the Simkins recently. The founders of this chocolate company are also high performing athletes, and Austin Simkins recently placed first in the 2018 Bentonville Half Marathon with a recorded time of 1:14:50.
“The launch of IdeaFame serves as an important step in encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship around the globe,” said Jeff Amerine. “We could not be more excited that today’s winner is Simkins Brothers’ Sweets from right here in NW Arkansas.”
Amerine is the founding principal of Startup Junkie Consulting, LLC, a general partner of the new Cadron Capital Partners venture fund, and a co-founder of IdeaFame.
