What do you think is the biggest issue facing the health care industry in Arkansas today?
Continuing to provide enough access points for health care to the citizens we serve.
Why is that the biggest issue?
Having enough access to health care is an important way we can help our citizens stay healthy and have a better quality of life.
What about next year? Five years from now?
I think the same thing will be our biggest issue next year and many years to come.
What are some of the most significant financial challenges facing hospitals today?
Continued declining reimbursements for the services we provide.
How do governmental mandates impact Arkansas hospitals?
Greatly, especially with ACA in rural areas like ours. We have seen a positive impact on our ability to continue to provide core services and has given us an opportunity to provide added services to the citizens of Eastern Arkansas.
How do you work towards improving physician-hospital relations?
Maintaining consistent communication with transparency and encouraging their feedback on how we can help serve their patients.
Has personnel shortage been an issue for your hospital? If so, how have you addressed it?
Yes. Keeping up with competitive wages, recruitment and retention incentives and working alongside local colleges and universities in helping them train their students in healthcare related fields.
