As part of the partnership, IberiaBank is contributing $10,000 to the Food for Kids Pack-a-thon. This contribution will help provide food for 3,0000 children in Central and South Arkansas.
The Pack-a-thon will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Arkansas Foodbank warehouse, located at 4301 West 65thSt. in Little Rock. During the Pack-a-thon, volunteers will pack the backpacks with food, and the backpacks will be distributed to school children later.
In a press release, Phillip Jett, IberiaBank Executive Vice President and Central Arkansas President, explains that donating to the Arkansas Foodbank is a way of making a difference throughout the state. “No child should go hungry and the Backpack Program allows us to touch those with the greatest needs by supporting them in a meaningful way,” he said.
The Backpack Program aims to help children who miss meals on weekend by providing them with easily prepared meals. According to the press release, every backpack provides approximately 60 percent of a child’s nutritional needs. The backpacks contain four meals, along with four snacks and drinks.
Arkansas Foodbank is the largest food bank in the state. It serves 33 counties in Central and Southern Arkansas and also provides assistance to Feeding America food banks throughout the state.
