Jim Cargill, Arvest Bank’s Central Arkansas president and CEO, has banking in his blood. And the fourth-generation banker brings that level of experience to work with him every day.

Though he may have always known he would end up in the financial industry, Cargill’s first job was with his father on their farm in South Arkansas, raising row crops, cattle and hogs.

“I actually grew up working on a farm,” says Cargill. “I remember one day my dad and I had gone to the cotton gin to drop off some cotton. We picked up the check and went to the bank, but since we were all grimy from working, we’d always go to the back door and call for my grandfather.

“I can still remember the cold air coming out of the back of that bank. I thought, ‘you know, this seems a lot more comfortable than being out here in the heat,’” he jokes. “So, I decided banking wasn’t such a bad idea.”

Cargill says he most enjoys working with people who are always thinking of ways to help others.

“I’m really fortunate to have a great group of associates who are really committed to that,” says Cargill. “It’s inspiring to watch them do what they do and hear the stories of how they are really helping people figure things out financially.”
