Johnelle Hunt Makes Prestigious Forbes List

Forbes released their 2018 list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women on Wednesday. The list, which includes twenty-four women billionaires, has Arkansas’ Johnelle Hunt as No. 5.

Johnelle Hunt was born in Heber Springs, and married the late Johnnie Bryan Hunt. Together they started a rice hull packaging operation. Eight years later, the Hunts bought five trucks and seven trailers to launch J.B. Hunt Transport Services in 1961.

Over five decades later, J.B. Hunt Transport Services has turned into one of the biggest transportation companies in the U.S., with $7.2 billion in sales. Hunt is the largest individual stakeholder in the company with a 17% stake and her net worth as of July 12, is $3.1 billion dollars.

Back in 2014, Hunt donated 6 acres of land that was used to build the Walton Arts Center’s Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion, a popular outdoor amphitheater that hosts a number of big-name musical talents throughout the year.

The Forbes list consisted of 60 women, including celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Beyonce and Oprah. The combined net worth of all 60 women is a record $71 billion, which is 15% more than in 2017.

Women are continuing to crush records and scale new heights and it is inspiring to watch.
